Is it possible to integrate different systems in the management of my business? Team Etendo answers!
Spoiler alert! not only is it possible, but it can be done in an efficient, scalable and customizable way. Irina, from our team of developers, tells you how we did it!
From the services area, we received a request from a client to work on the integration of our ERP with an external system. Their need was clear; both systems had to work in a fluid way, so that the information could circulate between them, streamlining internal processes.
The client had difficulties in order management of their business, so the integration required to be able to send sales orders, receive the delivery notes generated, synchronize stock data and keep everything online.
How did we make it possible?
My starting point was to analyze the information that the client needed to link. We identified what that key data was, how it should relate to other data and how it would flow from one system to another. Once this information was gathered, I got down to work and started the development, without losing sight of the fact that we also had to make this solution as configurable and scalable as possible, avoiding dependence on fixed values or configurations that would have to be manually modified in the future.
For the development to be efficient, I worked carefully on the structure of the data, the formats to be used and the conditions that could arise in the integration. Some difficulties arose along the way: the messages sent did not arrive as expected or returned errors that were not very descriptive. But we carried out the necessary tests to identify the origin of these deviations and adjusted some configurations to correct them definitively.
What was the impact of this development?
The integration was successful: our ERP could support the key areas of the business (warehouse, invoicing and accounting). With only 10 months of post-implementation use, our client significantly improved the management of production planning and purchasing management. In addition, it facilitated the integration with Edicom for their customers, and with power BI to obtain specific dashboards.
This integration not only continues to be used in the management of the client’s business, but also represented a basis for us that we continue to use in similar cases.
The Etendo team enjoys and values these projects very much because they represent challenges that fill us with learning and push us to keep improving.
